Density Matters: Why We Calibrate Hulls for the World’s Most Challenging Waters
A board that is fast in a freshwater lake might "plow" in the dense, salty waters of the Red Sea. RockerWave is the first to offer Density-Calibrated Hulls, optimized for specific regional water salinities.
1. The Buoyancy-Drag Trade-off
Salt water provides more lift, which can cause a board to sit too high and lose its "tracking bite." Conversely, fresh water can cause a racing hull to sit too deep. We adjust the Static Displaced Volume ($V_d$) of our boards by ±2% to ensure the waterline is always mathematically perfect for your primary racing environment.
2. Surface Tension Variations
Water temperature and salinity affect surface tension. Our regional "Custom-Tunes" adjust the rail-taper to ensure the board "releases" from the water at the exact moment your stroke reaches peak power, regardless of the environment.
